Dr. Michael Harrington: Let me introduce myself, I was born and raised in Bakersfield, California. I graduated eighth in my class at North High School, Bakersfield California. I moved to Nampa, Idaho to attend Northwest Nazarene University (NNU). At NNU I graduated with honors on the Dean's List with a BS in Biology. I then moved to Nashville, Tennessee to attend Meharry Medical College (MMC). I graduated from MMC in the top 5% of my class with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. I missed California so much during the eight years of my education that I decided to move back. I chose Ventura for its wonderful climate, friendly people and small town atmosphere.
I earned my California State Dental License in 2000. I was an associate in Ventura and Santa Barbara County for two years, then in April 2002 I opened my private practice in Ventura, California. In 2008 I expanded into a second location in Carpinteria, California and took over for the retiring Dr. John Conti. I am a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), California Dental Association (CDA), and the Santa Barbara / Ventura County Dental Society (SBVCDS). I am also a member of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD).
I am thoroughly enjoying my patients and develment of a mutual respect and friendship with them over. I am looking forward to serving the community that I live and work in, and hope that you will allow me to take care of you and your entire family now, and for years to come.
Dr. J.P. Hughes: Dr. Hughes is a new addition to our team. He is semi-retired and sees his patients on tuesdays. He has been practicing in the Santa Barbara for over 30 years. He has extremely loyal patients, most of which have seen him his entire career.
Dr. J.P. Hughes was born in Malvern, Arkansas, 1945, and came to california in 1946. He attended and graduated from Redondo Union High School in Redondo beach, California, in 1963. From 1964 to 1968, after graduating High School, he served four years active duty in the United states Air Force. During that time he met his wife, Kathy, and they married in 1967.
After completion of his military duty, Dr. Hughes attended college at Los Angeles Valley College in Van Nuys, California, where he earned his A.A. degree. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1972 in the field of biological sciences from California State University at Northridge, Northridge, California. Dr. Hughes began his dental career at USC in 1972 and graduated with honors in 1976.
He served as the student body Vice President and as a proctor for the Board of Dental Examiners during his senior year. He was selected to receive special recognition from the Southern California General Dentistry for his efforts and accomplishments during his academic years at USC School Of Dentistry. Other recognition and accomplishments were: Recipient of the Arthur C. La Touche Award for outstanding operative dentistry during four years at the School of Dentistry; selection by his peers to receive the Robert E. Cruse Award for integrity and the highest of moral and ethical standards. As a student in the top ten percent of his graduating class, Dr. Hughes was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society. During that time he served as chairman of various committees as well as the President and the Past President.
Jan Harrington: Jan has a degree in Business, and more than 18 years of hands on experince. Jan is our Office Manager, and our "go to girl". She has managed our office since 2002. Jan helps coordinate our patients care and financial arrangements, among many other office duties.
Jan grew up in Ventura, moved away for several years, then moved back to Ventura to raise her three children, Lauren, Megan and Ryan. In addition to running both offices. Her number one goal is to treat both Employees and Patients like family.She receives an overwhelming amount of praise and appreciation from patients.
Janice Olivares:Dr. Harrington's right hand woman is our back office assistant. Janice has 15 years experience as a Dental Assistant. She has an amazing compassion to make our patients comfortable during their visit at our office. She is one of our bilingual staff members.
Janice enjoys playing soccer, spending time in the outdoors and with her family.
Deannette Avalos:Deannette is one of our bilingual dental assistants. She graduated her Dental Assisting course in 2010 at the top of her class. It has always been a dream for her to work in the dental field and hopes to someday work as a dental hygienist.
Outside of the office Deannette enjoys spending time with her family, working out, and attending school.
Annie Doyle, R.D.H.:Annie graduated from the Dental Hygiene Program at Oxnard Community College in 2008 where she was the recipient of the Golden Scaler Award. She is commited to educating her patients in all aspects of oral health. Patients often comment on her gentle, yet thorough approach.
When not in the office she enjoys camping, boating, and working out with her husband Matt.
Anna Elbek R.D.H.:Anna is a graduate of the Dental Hygiene Program at Oxnard Community College . She was also awarded the Golden Scaler award for her class. Anna takes pride through providing thorough treatment and education. She teaches patients about good dental hygiene so that they can maintain optimum oral health.
When Anna is not in the office she enjoys cooking, and loves the out doors.
Cherie' Beck R.D.H:Cherie' is also a graduate of the Dental Hygiene Program at Oxnard Community College. She has built lifelong relationships with many of her patients through amazing care, and she enjoys seeing families grow and flourish with healthy smiles. She considers increasing patient knowledge a top priority, and she works to create a calm and reassuring environment for her patients.
On her down time Cherie' enjoys spending time with her two English Bull dogs Hercules and Guero.
