Dr. Michael Harrington:
Dr. J.P. Hughes: Dr. J.P. Hughes was born in Malvern, Arkansas, 1945, and came to california in 1946. He attended and graduated from Redondo Union High School in Redondo beach, California, in 1963. From 1964 to 1968, after graduating High School, he served four years active duty in the United states Air Force. During that time he met his wife, Kathy, and they married in 1967.
After completion of his military duty, Dr. Hughes attended college at Los Angeles Valley College in Van Nuys, California, where he earned his A.A. degree. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1972 in the field of biological sciences from California State University at Northridge, Northridge, California. Dr. Hughes began his dental career at USC in 1972 and graduated with honors in 1976.
He served as the student body Vice President and as a proctor for the Board of Dental Examiners during his senior year. He was selected to receive special recognition from the Southern California General Dentistry for his efforts and accomplishments during his academic years at USC School Of Dentistry. Other recognition and accomplishments were: Recipient of the Arthur C. La Touche Award for outstanding operative dentistry during four years at the School of Dentistry; selection by his peers to receive the Robert E. Cruse Award for integrity and the highest of moral and ethical standards. As a student in the top ten percent of his graduating class, Dr. Hughes was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society. During that time he served as chairman of various committees as well as the President and the Past President.
