Porcelain Veneers

One of the dental restoration options we offer at Aloha Dental is porcelain veneer. What is it?

Veneers are made of porcelain designed to mimic the natural look of your teeth, veneers provide strength and resilience similar to tooth enamel.

We recommend them for patients who wish to make a subtle change to their tooth shape, size or color. Our dentists are American Academy of Cosmetic Dentist members. Thus, you can ask them anything about veneers and determine whether or not they’re the ideal option for you. You may have seen celebrities wearing veneers to replicate a set of picture-perfect teeth. You wish to have it too. One must consider that not all mouths are the same. Because of the differences, dentists must first carefully examine their patients before recommending this option.

We begin by creating a diagnostic mock-up. The mock up will allow you can try on the veneers in order to see if you like the result and find out if it is what you’re looking for. You will also see a preview of your new smile. Knowing how porcelain veneers will change your smile or look is just a step in the process. Porcelain veneers replace your tooth enamel. Removal of a part of your original tooth enamel is a requirement before placing the veneers. Usually, the dentist removes less than 1 millimeter of enamel. However, it depends on each individual case.

The purpose of removing a portion of the enamel is to create room for the veneer to adhere to the tooth and restore your natural tooth function. This will allow you to achieve a better appearance than your natural tooth. Veneers are used to achieve aesthetic perfection, a light-sensitive resin is necessary, and it’s placed between the veneer and the tooth. To harden the bond, a special curing light is applied. This option is ideal for teeth with poor color and shape. It’s also an excellent option for gaps between teeth and to repair fractured teeth. If there are bite-related problems, porcelain veneers usually is unable to correct them. Veneers are also an option for teeth with superficial stains. These stains don’t respond well to any tooth whitening treatments. Hence, porcelain veneers might be the better option. You can also choose the no-prep veneers. But they’re not ideal for everyone. With this option, they only need minimal removal of tooth material. Placing them can also be done quicker than placing traditional veneers.

If you wish to opt for it, our dentists will examine your mouth and teeth first to find out whether or not it is a sensible treatment plan for your case.
